OV-chipcardOV-chipkaart All public transportation in the Netherlands is with the OV-chipcard ('OV-chipkaart' in Dutch language). OV is Dutch for 'Openbaar Vervoer' and means 'Public Transportation'. Tourists can buy Day Tickets at the Public Transportation office at the Central Station Square or from one of the ticket vending machines. Prices starts from €7.50 for one day. The Day Ticket provides unlimited travel with the bus/metro/tram in Amsterdam's city centre. A card for 48 hours cost €12,00 and a card for 72 hours is €16,50. It's also possible to buy a ticket from the driver but you pay more money than with the OV-card. At the start of the journey you have to check-inn. The picture above shows a ov-card reader. When you leave the tram/metro/bus, don't forget to check-out otherwise you pay too much money. |
