location The Red Light District is very close to Central Station. It is a quite save place to walk: there are always (plenty of) tourists making a stroll in the day or in the evening. If you leave the main entrance at Central Station, turn immediately left (Prins Hendrikkade) and then turn right into the Warmoesstraat. In 10 minutes you can walk from Central Station through Warmoesstraat to Damsquare with its Royal Palace and Madame Tussauds. Live Sex Theatre Casa Rosso was one of the main venues in the Red Light District but is yet closed. The municipal authorities of Amsterdam wants to decrease the (illegal) prostitution in the Red Light District. Five star hotel Sofitel Demeure The Grand is located at Oudezijds Voorburgwal 197. coffeeshops In the Warmoesstraat are besides restaurants and hotels also sex shops and coffeeshops. At the end of the Warmoesstraat is the Dam Square with 5 star Hotel Krasnapolsky. Behind Hotel Krasnapolsky are several other coffeeshops. Just outside the Red Light District, parallel to the Warmoesstraat is Damrak, the main street from Central Station to Damsquare.
