![]() The Dam is the center of Amsterdam. The main promenade Damrak goes straight from Central Station to the Dam Square. Restaurants, cafes, budget hotels and the Beurs van Berlage are along the road. The National Monument on the Dam is 22 meters high. Its a symbol for the liberation of the Netherlands in WorldwarII as for the national unity. Also on the Dam are the Madame Tussauds and the Royal Palace and New Church(exhibitions). On the left of the photograph is a part of the main department store "The Bijenkorf". On the background is the 5 star hotel Krasnapolsky. |
