The flower market is a small road along the canal and relative small (300 metres long). The market is open Mondays – Fridays from 9.00 – 18.00 and Saturdays from 9.00 – 17.00. Unique of this place is that it is a floating market: the stalls are on the canal. The stalls sell fresh flowers and bulbs. Opposite the flower shops are monumental houses with little shops selling tourist souvenirs.
The flower market is located at the end of shopping street the Kalverstraat. If you travel by tram you must get out at stop ‘Muntplein’. Turning left from the market will lead you into the Koningsplein and Leidsestraat. From here it is 10 minutes walking to Leidseplein (cafes, bars, clubs, casino). If you would cross the street on the other side of the flower market and walk 250 metres then you are at Rembrandtplein (Rembrandt Square). This is another main venue for going out in Amsterdam.
A nice 4-star hotel at the corner of the flower market is NH Carlton Amsterdam (3799 reviews, 7.1). The tram stop is at 100 metres from the hotel and as a direct connection with Central Station. Walking to Central Station is about 25 minutes.
